The Australian-based cruise line, Aurora Expeditions, has announced that its new state-of-the-art ship, Sylvia Earle, will make its debut voyage later this year. The ship is named after the respected American marine biologist and oceanographer.
The Sylvia Earle will start its life with an epic itinerary, from Santiago, Chile to Ushuaia, Argentina, making its way through South Georgia and the Falkland Islands on its way.
Hayley Peacock-Gower, Chief Marketing Officer at Aurora Expeditions, said: “We are thrilled to … be debuting her on such a magnificent voyage whose destinations are so representative of Aurora’s spirit of exploration, discovery and education.
“This highly anticipated vessel is intended to be a floating ambassador for the conservation of the planet, with a large focus on marine education and conservation in line with Dr Earle’s own longstanding efforts.”
