Every year we are treated to the whale migration through Australia’s waters.
You’re most likely to spot a humpback, particularly on the east coast, but you could also see southern right or sperm whales, orcas or even the elusive blue whale.
In New South Wales, whale-watching season is from May to November, however, the best time is when the whales migrate south between September and November. Head to South Coast destinations, such as Jervis Bay or Montague Island, to see whales come right into the shallow bays, or swim with whales on Dive Jervis Bay tour.
There are also spectacular whale-watching spots north of Sydney, such as Bouddi National Park on the Central Coast and Lennox Head on the North Coast.
