Central NSW is one of the best regions in the state for stargazing.
There is less light pollution than in major cities or coastal towns, so you can witness the Milky Way lighting up at Bathurst Observatory, on a stargazing dinner at Yarrabandai Creek Homestead in Forbes or during A Taste of Orange’s ‘Nurture and Nourish’ weekends (held in March, May and September).
However, on a clear night around Oberon, Parkes, Cowra and Bathurst you’ll see a sky full of stars. To learn more about the constellations, download an app such as NASA, SkyView or SkySafari. Seeing the stars is a touching experience, and it’s also a great excuse to visit Central NSW. Stay awhile and enjoy all the region has to offer.
