Fireworks will launch across multiple pontoons as Canberra looks to bring in the new year in style.
With both 9pm and midnight showings, Canberrans and visitors will excitedly look out from the shores of Lake Burley Griffin as the sky is set alight for the first time since New Year’s Eve 2018.
There will be live performances scattered across the foreshore, as well as pop-up stores making the area a hub of excitement and entertainment for the night.
Assistant Minister for Economic Development Tara Cheyne said: “The New Year’s Eve event this year aims to bring our community together for much deserved fun and excitement as say goodbye to 2021.”
“This will also be an opportunity for us to support local artists, food vendors, tourism, and hospitality businesses after the extended lockdown in the ACT.
“With the easing of restrictions and our high vaccination rates, I hope this New Year’s Eve event will kickstart a return to major events in the capital.”
