Now Tourism Australia is launching a new campaign to persuade us to holiday here this year…in urban environments.
Explore has published a special guide to each state’s cities in partnership with Tourism Australia, finding each city’s hidden secrets among the laneways and back streets. Food, fun, events and festivals are a highlight – with many states funding a extraordinary number of new events, while hotels are luring us with tempting stays.
“Our cities have been some of the hardest hit destinations as a result of the pandemic, both from the loss of international visitation and fewer domestic visitors. That’s why we’re encouraging Australians who can, to take a city escape and experience un-paralleled access to our world-class dining, retail and entertainment offerings, as well as our city’s vibrant tourism attractions and cultural experiences,” says Tourism Australia Managing Director Phillipa Harrison. “An escape to our cities offers plenty for Australians to enjoy, without having to necessarily travel too far afield.”
