The Gondwana Rainforest of NSW’s mid-north coast is getting a new multi-day hike. Part of a $56.4 million investment announced in the NSW Budget, the Dorrigo Escarpment Great Walk will wind its way through 46 kilometres of rainforest.
Three suspension bridges, walkers’ huts and camping areas will be established, expanding access to Dorrigo National Park’s stunning forest vistas, waterfalls and rivers. There will also be a new rainforest centre with a boardwalk viewing area and a treetop skywalk.
Further south in NSW there’s more good news, with the opening of a nine-kilometre section of the new Snowies Alpine Walk in Kosciuszko National Park. The section traverses from Guthega to Charlotte Pass, and includes Australia’s highest suspension bridge, at 1627 metres above sea level, spanning Spencers Creek.
