While the south of the continent gets a little chilly through winter and early spring, The Whitsundays is still warm and ready to welcome visitors.
With holiday-starved Australians still unable to jet overseas, demand for Queensland’s tropical beaches and islands is high.
Qantas has responded to the rising popularity of the Sunshine State and will fly direct between Brisbane and the Whitsunday Coast (Proserpine) for the first time in seven years. The QantasLink flights will begin from September 17, up to seven times per week, on 74-seat Q400 aircraft.
QantasLink CEO John Gissing said: “With international borders still largely closed, we’re pleased to be making it easier for Australians to experience the world-famous beaches of the Whitsunday region and access the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.”
If you’re looking for something a bit chillier, this month Qantas added new routes from Sydney and Brisbane to the Snowy Mountains (Cooma) and from Brisbane to the Victorian Alps (Albury) for the ski season.
