The Tony-winning Rodgers and Hammerstein production of Cinderella is making its way to Australia in 2022.
Originally set to arrive in 2021, the musical is now confirmed to visit Melbourne from May and Sydney from October next year.
It is a different take on the traditional storyline and setting of Cinderella that you’re used to, but still with all the iconic characters and costumes you would expect.
The production presents Cinderella as a contemporary figure, maintaining the fairy-tale magic but injecting a modern twist.
First taking to the stage in New York in 2013, the Broadway production has received eight Tony nominations, winning one for best costume design.
Cinderella will make its Australian debut at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre on May 20 and at the Sydney Lyric Theatre at The Star from October 23. The production stars Shubshri Kandiah, Ainsley Melham, Tina Bursill, Silvie Paladino and Todd McKenny.
