Kyah Boutique Hotel is the latest member of Blue Mountains Luxury, opening December 20 last year after a 1970s motel was refurbished into a luxury mountain retreat.
Packing in 46 rooms the family-owned hotel just underwent a six-month renovation. Kyah Boutique Hotel General Manager and Executive Chef Mate Herceg said that the design reflected the character of the local surrounds.
“It was important to us that the Kyah design and architecture complemented the rich character of Blackheath and the original bones of the building, yet still felt fresh and enticing,” said Mr Herceg.
“The motel footprint remains but we have totally transformed the property into a hotel, dining and drinking destination that feels sophisticated without losing the warmth or approachability you want from a regular haunt.”
Mr Herceg runs Blaq restaurant and bar on the premises, which along with a tennis court, vegetable gardens and open fireplaces to sit beside makes for plenty to do on site.
Blaq restaurant uses produce from suppliers within an 80-kilometre radius of the hotel.
