Virgin Australia is celebrating New South Wales’ Freedom Day with 50,000 $49 fares between Sydney, Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour.
The airline is thanking NSW residents who have been vaccinated by selling the bargain fares, which are available for travel between the 1st of November 2021 and the 23rd of June 2022.
Over 205,000 vaccinated Australians have entered the Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer VA-X and Win competition. Fully vaccinated customers have until the 31st of December to enter the competition, with hundreds of prizes available including one million Velocity Frequent Flyer Points.
With regional travel set to resume on the 25th of October, Virgin Australia is giving NSW residents the opportunity to travel within the state and enjoy their newfound freedoms after a lockdown period that extended for over 100 days.
A spokesman from Virgin Australia said; “We’re so excited that Freedom Day is finally here and we’re even closer to getting the state back in the air.”
“To celebrate today’s milestone and to thank the vast majority of NSW residents for doing the right thing and rolling up their sleeves to get vaccinated, we’re offering fares to Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour from just $49, until midnight this Wednesday.
“Virgin Australia is giving NSW residents every reason to make the most of the easing of restrictions and life after the foreshadowed resumption of intrastate travel on 25 October, by planning a change of scenery to enjoy their newfound freedoms.
“We encourage all residents to make the most of the $49 sale fares which we expect will sell-out quickly.”
The fares will be on sale until this Wednesday, the 13th of October, or until sold out. The airline is expecting the fares to sell out quickly.

Our industry relies on a connected nation and the quicker everyone is vaccinated, the quicker we can return to the people and the things we love, including travelling more freely”.
Passengers will earn Velocity Frequent Flyer Points and up to double Status Credits on all of Virgin Australia’s sale fares.
The fares have flexibility so passengers can change or cancel their flight with no fees, available for travel up to the 28th of February 2022.
