A number of Australian wineries are collaborating with the lands’ traditional owners to give visitors an experience that connects them with Aboriginal culture.
Mandoon Estate in Western Australia has partnered with Noongar Elder Dale Tilbrook. He regales guests with stories of the Noongar area and talks about the local Indigenous foods and culture, as well as the farming methods of his people.
In South Australia, at McLaren Vale’s Gemtree Wines, senior cultural custodian Karl Winda Telfer of Yellaka will guide visitors along the Gemtree Eco-trail. The experience continues in the Gemtree Wines tasting room. The Tirkandi tour is scheduled for 16 October 2021.
