The pandemic unfortunately put a stop on Sydney’s Japanese festival, Japanaroo, but the organisers have put together Japanaroo+, an abridged version of the event which will run from December 3-19.
A range of cultural and food events will happen throughout the cities, such as Ikebana Exhibition from December 4-12 at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, Japanaroo Festive Season Concert on December 17 at Sydney Town Hall and Eat the Feast of Nagoya from December 4-19 at any one of the six Yayoi restaurants dotted around Sydney.
Perhaps the most exciting event is Flavours of Fukuoka, where a host of Japanese restaurants and chefs across Sydney will offer a tonkotsu ramen tasting trail. Gogyo in Surry Hills, Sekka Dining in St Leonards, Ramen Zundo in World Square and Sakana-Ya will all offer their own tonkotsu-style ramens as part of a special menu running from December 4-12. If you dine in, you’ll even receive a free glass of sake or wine with your tonkotsu.
