Australia Zoo in Queensland, the Irwin family zoo, is opening a development of eight bushland cabins, the Crocodile Hunter Lodge.
The cabins were constructed with timber from the zoo’s iconic crocodile-viewing grandstands, which Steve Irwin built with his own hands.
Unlimited zoo entry is part of the package, but even the lodge’s 25-metre infinity pool will be a prime place to spot kangaroos, emus, echidnas and koalas.
Terri Irwin said: “Steve always had a dream that one day, people would not just visit Australia Zoo, but stay overnight, and have the immersive experience of listening to and being around wildlife after dark.”
You can combine your stay with a visit to Warrior Restaurant & Bar, offering a luxurious dining experience that pays special homage to Indigenous Australians and the plants that have long been key ingredients of their diet.
An overnight stay will start at about $950 for two adults.
