Known as the Silver City, Broken Hill has a larrikan streak in it – once the home of more than 70 pubs it’s now got about 30.
It’s the home of many great artists including Pro Hart when you visit his gallery – check out his painted cars before you enter.
The Broken Hill Living Desert and Sculpture Park showcases 12 sandstone sculpture and best viewed at sunset.
The Line of Lode Miners Memorial pays tribute to miners who have lost their lives.
Check out the amazing murals in The Palace Hotel where parts of Priscilla Queen of the Desert was filmed.
Nearby Silverton has several galleries, an iconic pub with beer swilling donkeys and the Mad Max II Museum.

Dine at the Exchange Restaurant at the Royal Exchange Hotel and soak up the art deco style.
Bells Milk Bar serves old fashioned malted milkshakes and soda spiders with the juke box blazing. Visit the Milk Bar Museum at the back of the shop that showcases life in the 1950s with furniture and goods that were in vogue at the time.
