Promoting the best of Australia’s musical talent, Great Southern Nights is a series of live music performances spread out across New South Wales.
Whether you’re soaking in the Byron Bay sun or sipping wine in Wagga Wagga, you can combine it with some electrifying live music and take a road trip across the state.
The gigs run through March and April, with performances in Sydney, Western Sydney, Wollongong, Wagga Wagga, Byron Bay, Albury and more.
Whatever type of music you’re into, you’re likely to see some favourites on the line-up with the talent on show including Missy Higgins, Jimmy Barnes, Jessica Mauboy, The Veronicas, Amy Shark, Baker Boy, Kasey Chambers and Violent Soho.
Minister for Tourism and Sport Stuart Ayres said Great Southern Nights is not just about great tunes but represents a return to strength for the ravaged live entertainment industry and a chance to get out and support regional tourism.
“The live music scene makes a significant contribution to our social and economic wellbeing. As part of our roadmap to recovery it is vital that we get back on its feet,” said Mr Ayres.
“This will create jobs for artists and crew, revenue for venues and drive visitation to large parts of regional NSW that have done it tough over the past few years.
“Great Southern Nights celebrates the very essence of live music in Australia – it’s about getting artists on stages, gigs in venues, and audiences back enjoying performances by our talented creatives right across the State.”
Here’s a guide to some classic NSW road trips that you can mix in with Great Southern Nights…
