Sports tourism is back on the agenda – and the big event on the calendar is the World Cup in the Middle East.
FIFA World Cup inter-confederation play-offs take place in June, with four countries playing for the final two slots at this year’s tournament.
Australia could feature on June 13 at matches taking place in Qatar’s Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. But first, the Socceroos must overcome United Arab Emirates – the Asian Qualifying Round 3’s other third-ranked nation – in another play-off to be hosted by Qatar on June 7.
What FIFA World Cup holiday packages are available?
World of Discoveries is offering 4-10 supporter packages to Doha starting at $1266 per person, plus flights, to support the Socceroos. Things get a big more expensive during the tournament in November and December, when a 10-day package starts from $6209 per person.
If you’re stuck for accommodation, two cruise liners will be berthed at Doha’s West Bay with 3800 cabins on offer, accommodating up to 10,000 guests.
When is the FIFA World Cup in Qatar?
The FIFA World Cup inter-confederation play-off will be in June 2022, while the final event will be from 21 November until 13 December.
