As the writer of one of Australia’s most popular food blogs, Lorraine Elliott is sought after for her tips not only where to eat, but what to eat. Explore asked Not Quite Nigella to tell us about her road trip to the Murray River region in New South Wales.
“It’s hard to pick a favourite but our stay in Corowa was pretty special,” she said. “We stayed at Circa 1836 which is a gorgeous, restored Art Deco hotel in a former Bank of NSW. We also ate a fantastic Italian meal at D’Amicos, shopped for chocolate and whisky and piloted our own plane, something I never thought I’d ever do. Also glamping in the yurt at the adults-only Talo Retreat in Moama was serene and unique.
“We liked following the Murray River and seeing the towns along this vast river. Each has its own personality. Albury has lots to do and eat, Corowa is historical, Perricoota has lovely accommodation and great food, while Moama is great for a glamping retreat and a paddle-steamer ride down the river before hopping off for a meal at a winery.”
