Australian meteorologist, weather presenter, journalist and cookbook author Magdalena Roze and her husband, chef and restaurateur Darren Robertson, took a foodie road trip around the New South Wales Riverina. She tells us about some of her favourite places.
“The whole Riverina region is so beautiful and diverse. We were lucky enough to get a bird’s-eye view on a chopper flight with Truenorth Helicopters and the vineyards, orchards, pastures, mountains and pristine lakes were breathtaking.
“Nimbo Fork Lodge is a really beautiful boutique place to stay, right on the river. We also loved Coolamon Cheese and were blown away by the cheese that [cheesemaker Jenn Nestor] is making.
“Darren has a restaurant at Nimbo Fork Lodge, and I have visited before for weddings and ski trips, but this is the first time we’ve both had the chance to really explore the Riverina,” says Ms Roze.
“The area is rich with small towns and communities that all have wonderful things to offer, whether it’s antique stores, craft beer or artisan cheese, there are some wonderful things happening.”
