Settled in the late 1930s, the first vineyards were planted in early 1840. Many towns here were built to service the nearby Burra copper mines as well.
Today, some of Australia’s finest white grape varieties like Riesling grow here. If you prefer your reds, the Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are world-standard too.
The best way to enjoy your vino is by following the Clare Valley Riesling Trail, which spans 35 kilometres and connects the cellar doors, gourmet food producers and attractions in the region.
