These African-inspired luxury suites lie in the heart of the National Zoo and Aquarium, a 10-minute drive from Canberra’s Civic. The cornerstone of Jamala is uShaka Lodge, decorated with stylish and luxurious furniture and African artefacts and artworks. While you are here, you can enjoy the company of the curious and captivating colobus monkeys and the graceful inhabitants of the 200,000-litre shark tank.
The Meerkat Suite and the Shark Grand Suite adjoining uShaka lounge are ideal for family getaways. Sleeping up to six people (two adults and four kids, or four adults), these suites offer an economical way for larger groups to enjoy the full Jamala experience and, in the case of the Shark Grand Suite, with even more exciting animal encounters included.
The same can be said for the Wild Encounter Room (which sleeps three adults or two adults and two kids) where guests also get to enjoy an up close and personal Meet-A-Cheetah Experience with an unrestrained adult cheetah as a part of their stay. Note: this experience is available only to those aged 15 years old or above.
Jamala Wildlife Lodge also offers five-star dining included in the price. You start your evening with pre-dinner drinks and canapes, where some special guests, such as white lions or hyenas, may join you.
