A young designer has designed a new airline seat configuration that could revolutionise the way we travel.
Alejandro Núñez Vicente’s Chaise Longue Airplane Seat concept started small scale last year, as a college project for the then 21-year-old. The idea is that plane travellers would fly on a double decker airplane seat.
The top level will have two-ladder like steps for travellers to access the top level, while the bottom seats would be designed for travellers to almost sit on the floor.
Mr Núñez Vicente’s design does away with the overhead cabin. Instead, he’s designed space in between the top and bottom levels for travellers to stow cabin luggage.
While there’s been a lot of positivity surrounding the concept, others are concerned about claustrophobia and think that sitting under someone else would be worse than the current cabin configuration.
Mr Núñez Vicente is in talks with big-name airlines and seat manufacturing companies and has received hefty investment to develop the project.
