Bonza, Australia’s new low-cost airline, has today announced where it’ll be flying and everything else we need to know about Australia’s only independent, low-cost carrier.
Sunshine Coast Airport has been announced as the new airlines home base, with Melbourne as a secondary base and 25 routes revealed.
Bonza will be shaking up regional travel in Australia, with only capital city (Melbourne) among the 16 destinations they’ll be flying too.
You can look forward to Bonza flights to Albury, Avalon, Bundaberg, Cairns, Coffs Harbour, Gladstone, Mackay, Melbourne, Mildura, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba Wellcamp, Townsville and the Whitsunday Coast.
Some stand out routes include flights between the Sunshine Coast and Coffs Harbour, Newcastle and Port Macquarie, as well as flights between Newcastle and the Whitsunday Coast twice a week. Further highlights include lights between Port Macquarie and Melbourne twice a week, between Melbourne and Bundaberg twice a week and from Toowoomba to the Whitsunday Coast, also twice a week.
Tim Jordan, CEO of Bonza said: “Since announcing Bonza to the world late last year, we’ve always said we wouldn’t just fly between Australia’s three largest cities and instead give people in the regions more choice. Today we deliver on that promise, with the largest launch announcement in Australian aviation history.”
“From our two bases on the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne, we will give Aussies more options at ultra-low fares to explore their own backyard. With destinations ranging from Albury to the Whitsundays, travellers will now be able to fly, instead of impossibly long road trips as well as fly direct without a stopover in a major city.”
“Aussies can look forward to enjoying more time at their destination and spending less of their hard earned cash getting there in the first place.”
80% of Bonza’s new routes are currently unserved, meaning Bonza will be opening entirely new markets across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
Mr Jordan also emphasised that sustainability will be at the forefront of Bonza’s philosophy, with a paperless experience planned for flying, spearheaded by their new app.
“We encourage everyone to download the new app to be the first in the know for flights going on sale, fare sales, destination news and travel tips. We are also giving people the chance to win flights”.
Over the coming weeks, the app ‘Fly Bonza’ will be fully developed to allow you plan, book and manage your journey all through the app, as well as check in and scan your boarding passes.
“Never before have the settings been better to challenge the norms to support a streamlined customer engagement experience and focusing on sustainability from day one by removing the need for traditional paper based processes.”
