Virgin Australia has re-opened and refurbished its Melbourne Lounge, with a new menu to complete, just in time for summer and the return of travel.
Virgin Australia also reported that booking demand for Melbourne to Sydney services increased by nearly 500% since Victoria’s COVID roadmap was announced, with interest for Melbourne to Bali services also increasing 143%.

Marking the perfect time to open the new lounge, the new Melbourne lounge will fit 500 guests, new doctor and a brand new menu with all day dining, as well as barista-made coffee, Australian wines, craft beers and ciders.
The lounge is 2900 square metres in size, with further features including meeting rooms for hire, free Wi-Fi, HD televisions, shower facilities, charging stations and more.
The re-opening completes Virgin’s National Lounge network, now offering lounge comfort across Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth and Melbourne.
Virgin is also aiming to re-open its premium lounges in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane by March 31, 2022.
Virgin Australia Group Chief Customer and Digital Officer Paul Jones said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Victorian and New South Wales guests back to our lounges and on board our services as they make the most of their new-found freedom,” said Mr Jones.
“Capital city lounges are a big part of the Virgin Australia guest offering and we thank our loyal customers who have waited patiently for many months to see this incredible Lounge re-open in time for interstate travel to resume for Victorian and New South Wales residents.”
