On September 1, new art gallery The Lume will finally open in Melbourne after nearly a year of delays. The Lume is a 3000-square-metre, 11-metre-high digital art gallery in the heart of the city.
The gallery’s selling point is its digitally immersive experience. Artworks projections will light up the walls and musical scores will fill the halls, creating a luminous world of artwork in every room.
There will be no time limits or set routes, meaning you can craft your own journey as you make your way through the gallery.
The first exhibition at The Lume will celebrate Vincent van Gogh, meaning you’ll be walking through his iconic artworks as they melt into the walls and specially curated classical music greets your ears. You’ll feel as much a part of the art as you feel like an observer.
