We want to take our two children aged 5 and 6 to see their grandparents in Singapore. I’ve been told there may be vaccines available for kids in the early part of 2022. Should I wait? – Janine, Canberra
Singapore has just over 86 per cent of its population fully vaccinated – that is more than some Australian states. It is a very clean city and most residents wore masks even before COVID-19 hit.

In saying that, get advice from your doctor as there could be other issues to consider for your children. Under 12s do not need full vaccination nor do they need a PCR test to enter Singapore.
If you’re asking whether you should wait, I cannot answer as it is a personal decision. You will need to weigh up the pros and cons, which is why I recommend that families intending to travel overseas consult their local GP.
If it ticks the emotional, medical and financial boxes, then go for it. If you are worried, wait for the outcome of the vaccine for kids. If you decide to go, make sure you have travel insurance as it is a requirement that you hold at least S$30,000 medical cover.
