It's not just the wines that are turning heads at this Victorian winery. A new restaurant with fine food is also part of its charm.
There was never a dearth of reasons to visit Victoria's scenic Rutherglen. A swim in the Murray River, a walk by the placid Lake Moodemere or a drive through its rolling vineyards are just some of the tranquil country experiences you can enjoy in this region, just three hours drive north-east of Melbourne. But now with the launch of Kin restaurant, at All Saints Estate owned by siblings Eliza, Nick and Angela Brown, you can add another feather to Rutherglen's cap.
Chef Jack Cassidy is at the helm, re-imagining recipes - such as striploin with bone marrow - that have been passed down from one generation to another in the Brown family, and in the process transforming idyllic Rutherglen into a world-class dining destination.
The modern dining room with curved booth-seating is housed in a historic exposed-brick building and is only open for lunch Thursday-Sunday and dinner on Saturday.
