Would you like to admire a view of sails in the City of Sails? That's the promise of InterContinental Auckland which has just opened in the New Zealand city, with many of its 139 guestrooms affording sweeping city and harbour views.
A pared-back palette of neutrals - from desert brown to deep walnut - gives the rooms a sophisticated vibe from the get go. Even the smallest ones (King Classic) are quite spacious at 34 square metres, but if you want to spread out a bit more and savour those harbour vistas, sign up for the King Junior Suite.
There's no dearth of excellent eateries near the hotel, located in the Commercial Bay lifestyle precinct in Auckland's CBD. But thanks to chef Gareth Stewart's onsite Advieh restaurant, you may not have to venture too far. Advieh means "spice" in Persian, so get ready to feast on Stewart's liberally spiced and utterly delicious Middle Eastern fare. A swank club lounge with an all-day roster of complimentary treats will open later this year. ihg.com
