Sweeping sea views and unparalleled luxury await.
Razed to the ground in the devastating 2020 bushfires, Southern Ocean Lodge has just reopened on the south coast of SA's fiercely beautiful Kangaroo Island.
The lodge's original architect Max Pritchard is behind the $55 million rebuild, which features the sprawling Great Room (pictured) with floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the ocean, and 23 next-level suites trickling down the coastline.
Kick back in one of those suites - even the smallest are 61 square metres large and feature king-sized beds, walk-in robes, private outdoor terraces and spacious limestone ensuites with deep soaking bathtubs.
Then make a beeline for the onsite restaurant, where you can enjoy meals packed with regional, seasonal ingredients and matched with local wines.
Just don't forget to make the most of the lodge's signature experiences, which are part of the package and range from a guided coastal clifftop walk to a visit to Seal Bay, Australia's third-largest sea lion colony. southernoceanlodge.com.au
