No wonder 6.2 millions Australians can't wait to snag a slice of sandy real estate along the coast this festive season, according to new research by ING. Conducted by YouGov, the research surveyed more than 1000 Australians and found that 86 per cent are seeking out more free activities due to the high cost of living, with 54 per cent saying that is the main reason they're planning beach visits.
Some of them, in fact, are super keen: about 20 per cent say they'll hit the beach before 9am to nab car parks and good spots; while some are not holding back when it comes to pet peeves. About three in four beachgoers dislike people littering the beach, almost two-thirds say there should be at least one metre between neighbours, and a whopping 77 per cent say people should be more mindful of where they shake their towels. Something to keep in mind this summer.
